A topic that I came across in my online community was “How Not to Sell Online”. It is about a guy that goes to bed balancing his portfolio and he goes to bed reading the money magazine. He is always looking for ways to expand his business. Some of his examples on how to not sell online are : don’t pick a target market and build a website. A lot of people respond to the topics. There are not people that respond more than others it is pretty equal. Another topic is “What Kind of Business Are You In”? There are one thousand seventy two responses to this topic. They go from wedding planners to Vice Presidents of Enrichment companies. There are some topics that are not related to business and most of these, people do not write anything on. I contacted some people and they haven’t gotten back to me yet so I will let you know when I hear of something. Alot of people use the community for many questions that they have about their small businesses. Some people need help with their small businesses and many people respond. I think this community is really helpful for setting up a small business. And there are so many people to contact if you need help with anything or have any questions about small businesses. This would help me set up a small business, like a bar or restaurant that I want to set up. I am planning on using this community outside of class work in the future.

My online community is a group that is based on Religious Studies. The community mainly consists of a lot of post from its members on all kinds of religious subjects. Members talk about upcoming events that are important to people interested in the study of religion. Members also talk about their own beliefs; sometimes I feel these members anr using the community to persuade others to convert. This is not a bad thing, but I feel some members are abusing their membership in the online community. Since I have joined this online community I have posted a few things my self. Many of the things I have posted consist of interesting religious studies facts I am learning in my classes. I also made post to attempt to start a discussion. The way I went about this was simply by posting a message to all the members asking them to post an interesting fact about any religion. A few members responded, so my post worked. By doing this it helped sway more conversations, with out agendas. Over all there has not been a lot of activity in my online community. I am trying to use my membership to change that, by helping aid conversations by asking members questions and commenting on their posts.

Since I joined PR Bytes, a group on Yahoo Groups, I have monitored the group’s activity and read member’s posts. In the past eight days, the group has gained six members and now has a total of eight hundred sixty-five members. In this time, seventeen messages have been posted to the group’s message board to make fifty-seven total messages for the month of October. Group members post a variety of things related to the field of public relations. Some recent posts have been references to recent public relations news articles and links to other sites that a member thought might be of interest to other group members. Some of the users who read these posts respond with their own opinions on the issues brought up in the articles. Many members also post questions for others to respond to. Some ask for advice from other public relations professionals regarding problems they are having in their jobs. For example, one woman was having a problem with some case studies she was writing. She wanted to keep them brief, but at the same time make them interesting. She was having difficulty making them concise, while at the same time including all the necessary information and adding a little flair to them. She received many replies from other members of the group who gave her a lot of ideas. She was very grateful and found their suggestions to be fantastic. Through this example, it was easy for me to see that this group can be very helpful to people working in the public relations field. This group is not only a place to discuss issues in their field, but also to ask for advice on individual problems they are having. I think this group offers a great support system for public relations professionals.

Yes, there is something very wrong with selling bras to prepubescent girls. By allowing young girls at this age to purchase bras we are telling them that they have to maintain a certain appearance. We are starting the whole you have to be like a model but earlier. Parents would purchase these garments probably to make their little girls feel like they are all grown up. But when parents do this they get those exact results. Their little girls end up developing too quickly and when they try to get them to slow down its too late. This product is not a toy. I really don’t even understand how you can consider something like this to be a toy. It’s just like you grabbing a bra from the women’s section, would you consider that to be a toy? The message this send out to young girls in my opinion is not a good one. It’s telling little girls that if you want to be like a certain thing you have to look like it too including the garments that they wear. Watching news we have seen what a person can drive themselves to do when they are conscious about their bodies. They get depressed and some try suicide as a way to get away. Imagine a six year old child not eating because she thinks she is to fat compared to her doll. Its ridicules and it makes you think, are we not trying to stop this? Children especially young girls should be encouraged to live out their childhood and garments such as these should not even pop up in the picture unless it absolutely needed.

When getting a face transplant there are various reason why a person may feel as if they are one out of many to need this surgery. Some people who once looked a certain way now look like a whole different person because their face have been destroyed due to life’s accidents such as a fire’s, car accidents, abuse, and animal attacks which are all examples of unexpected things that can harm you. Then you have those people who get an operation like this done just for fun. They get tired of looking at the same thing every morning or even manipulate themselves into believing their not pretty enough and consider something like this to add a change, a feel of excitement, or self satisfaction to their lives. This can be dangerous to society because just like everything else people could use this operation that was suppose to help people against people. For example just like people do abortion operations without a license they can easily do something like this for a wanted criminal trying to get away. This can be dangerous to people because this operation is taking a risk on their lives if something goes wrong who’s to say they can’t lose their lives? When it comes to society there are two groups to consider; those for it and those people who are against it. People that think an operation like this will benefit those that truly need it. People that are against it may feel as if the doctors are not God so they have no right to change another person’s appearance.

Overall, I really love my job. There are a couple of things I don’t like, as with any job. First thing is that there are so many residents to take care of I just don’t have the time to spend as much time as I would like to with each individual. There are some nights when I just want to sit in a residents room or at the table with them for hours talking with them, comforting them, or just holding their hand. I guess I am pretty fortunate though, that I work at a small nursing home. We have a total of only 40 beds. I have ten residents that I am responsible for on my shift, and I’ve heard of some nursing homes where a CNA is responsible for 15-20 residents on the same shift. I don’t know how they do it. I try to manage my time wisely and hope that one day, if I’m in a nursing home, I’ll receive at least the same quality care as I give. The other thing I really don’t like is doing laundry. At most nursing homes all laundry is done by housekeeping. At my nursing home they just do towels and linens; we are responsible for doing the residents personal laundry. It is possible to do; it’s just a pain, and if you don’t do any you’ll hear about it the next day. One more thing, I am not a waitress. I did not apply for this job to be a waitress, and I really am getting tired of taking orders and serving supper. All of these thing are minor though, and are definately outweighed by the many reasons that I love my job. I think that anyone wanting to become a nurse should start out as a CNA. You get a taste of what you’re in for and hands on learning from the nurses you work with.

The St. Loius Cardinals took on the Detriot Tigers in the World Series this week. With the Tigers having the best record in baseball the Cardinals went in as the underdogs. To many peoples suprise the Cardinals came out as the winners in five games. The series can go seven games, but the Cardinals ended it in five. The Tampa Bay Lightning also played this week and ended the week with one win and two losses. The number one BCS ranked Ohio State Buckeyes showed just why they are number one when they defeated Minnesota 44-0. Sunday, the Tampa Bay Bucs tryed to overcome the New York Giants’ offense and was unsuccessful and suffered a loss of 17-3.

To begin, the Tigers were outmatched by the Cardinals not by skill, but by experience. The Cardinals were in the playoffs last year with basically the same team, so that gives them the upper hand right off the bat. The Tigers have a fairly young team and had inexperienced players when it came to the playoffs. The Tigers definitely had the talent just not the mentality. The Lightning won one game against the Hurricanes (5-1), but fell short in their second meeting on Saturday (4-6). Then on Sunday they took a loss to the San Jose Sharks (2-4). The Lightning need to work on their defense. Scoring that many goals is just unacceptable. The Bucs loss to the Giants was due to a lot of mistakes on the offense. The defense held their own against the number two ranked offense in the NFL. The Bucs flat out need to practice on offense.

An ethnography is an in depth research of a particular community, society or social class. Ethnographies are very important because they help us understand why a certain community reacts the way it does to certain stimuli. Also in an ethnography you try to define the culture’s norms, religion, politics and daily interactions. To write an ethnography you must first decide what type of community, society or religion you would like to learn about. Then you must figure out a way of introducing your self in to that community. You can either enter unobtrusively just as an observer or be introduced by the head of the community or someone in power. Many researchers have different feelings about which is the best way of going about doing this. Many feel that being introduced and totally open about what you are doing in the community actually harms your research. People feel that you will be looked at as a spy and your research will be tainted. While you are in the community it is a good idea to obtain a few key informants. These key informants will be giving you a lot of your inside information of that community or society. While you are in the community you must also keep good field notes so when you are writing your ethnography you will have a lot of information to work with instead of a small amount. One of the downfalls of an ethnography is that the research and interpretations only apply to that particular culture. You can not make any generalizations based upon an ethnography.

Spring Semester Course Sites Availability

All S07 course sites are currently available in myUSF. Instructor assignments —as specified in OASIS/Banner— for the upcoming semester begin on Wednesday, November 1st. Any content added to the S07 course sites prior to the beginning of the upgrade window will be migrated with the upgrade.

Student enrollment for the spring term begins after final exams, on Saturday, December 16th.

All myUSF/Blackboard activities will resume as soon as the new system is available and no later than 12:01 a.m. on Sunday, December 31st.

Studying really helps guys because the spent the last week studying for my chemistry test on Friday and I did really Good. And I am proud of myself because the last test I did not study for the last test and I got a D.It was horrible.. Studying helps try it guys.!!!

Florida state high school are not what i would consider the best. These schools lack so much in training. Florida high school tech students how to be lazy. The teachers in these schools spend all their time focusing on the FCAT which not even hard at all compared to the Regency test in New York. Alot of parents are complaining about the FCAT and i dont see why that is an issue because it’s such an easy test and the teachers based their curriculum on the FCAT. The students in Florida high school arent well rounded. They don’t learned more about other things. I have once read that an education person is someone who knows alot about something and a little bit about everything else. It’s that simple. I moved to the country in january 2003 and i had to take the FCAT in March of 2003 where i was a freshman .I toke it and i did not do so well because i had just moved from a french speaking country and that brought about some confusion. But the next,my sophomore, I toke it again and I Passed it just one year late,my reading comprehension in english was not even that good yet. Therefore i don’t see why a student that has been in the U.S. all along could not pass it. That is ridiculous.
I think the Florida schools system needs to help prepare the students for Collge and not only the FCAT. And I believe that is fair to make the FACT passing score as a requirement for graduation.

Danny Harold Rolling was Florida one most notorious serial killer. He butchered five University of Florida students. They had all been killed with a hunting knife. He mutilated some of them and suxually assulted them. This paniqued alot of the Gainsville ,Florida students and even rushed some people out of the town. And those who werent able to leave armed themself for protection. He plead guilty and this shocked everyone. Rolling thought he deserve to die but he did not want to die.
Outside the prison the dealth penalty opponents were singing “Amazing Grace”. When he was pronouced dead. And other people supported the execution saying that what he had done was terrible and that the families deserve “justice”. Many people had different views on the crime matter. Before the execution Rolling spent alot of time with brother and his paster. Rolling was a police officer from Los Angelos and he
later arrived to Gainsville on a bus. He was able to pitch a tent near the campus site and started his horrible move. After these crimes were discovered authorities tested several man but they did not realizaed that Rolling was already in jail for robbing a grocery store. Once again this serial killer blamed his actions on abuse he had suffered as a child and the treatment he recieved in prison. And he also had multiple personalities.
I think that every serial killer desreves the death penalty wethere he or she claimed to have been abused as a child or insane. That is not a reason to murder and hurt other people’s family. He killed fived young college students that had a goal set for their life. He deserves it.

I would like to thank you for visiting my usf blog world. I will most likely only use this to post interesting facts, finds or documents that I have created. Please do visit as often as you would like.

Today was the second round of voting for the Bulgarian president. The first round was a week ago, on the 22nd. It is not much of a nail-biter. There are two main contenders: Georgi Parvanov, the current president and Volen Siderov, founder of the Ataka Party. Last week only 42 percent of eligible voters took part in the elections. By law, at least 50 percent need to participate for the first election to be valid. This week is even worse, with only about 40.5 percent turnout (only preliminary results are in yet). The results will be final this time though.
This election has been mostly about choosing the candidate you’re least afraid of having as your president. Parvanov was first elected in 2001, as a member of the Socialist Party (formerly the Communist Party). He pushed for Bulgaria to join NATO as well as the European Union. But he also took part in a notoriously corrupted government, ensnaring himself in multiple scandals. On the other hand there is Siderov, who is well known for his racism and has made comments implying that Bulgaria should rethink joining the EU. Neither is an ideal candidate
Unlike the government here in the United States, the Bulgarian President is mainly a ceremonial role. The power lies with the Prime Minister and the Parliament. Still, the President has veto power and is the head of the military. It may not seem like such a big deal to have to choose the lesser of two evils for a position that is mostly for display, but it shouldn’t be like this. It’s sad when the best a country has to offer is a cheat or a racist.

The night was still; earlier in the day, the sun had been chased away by a platoon of grey clouds which seemed to gather as quickly as the rain drops that came with them had crashed into the ground. But the rain was gone now; all that was left were the events that had taken place beneath that loud storm which seemed to take away more than just a lucid sky.

This is the first post. Hello world!!

I do not believe in drug addictions. The idea that some one will do anything for a split second high is just ridiculous. I can’t sympathize with people who have addictions either. I have been around many drug abusers and have been offered drugs myself. I won’t deny that I have never taken any drugs. My point is that I never developed any addictions towards drugs. I don’t feel like I am the only person who doesn’t have an addiction. I’ve heard people go as far as to call alcoholism a disease. It’s just my opnion that addiction is a product of weakness.

The closer I come to my destination the farther I feel away from her. The tears, sour-sweet, rain from my eyes as the road passes us by. Then, I close my eyes trying to forget the present moment and my soul shrinks into my chest, absorving everything with it; it ties a knot around my neck. It all is uncontrolable, like the spasm of my foot. I can’t withstand the ache of my soul being absorved into this black hole, into a sea of hurtful words and truths that would be only revealed in such circumstances. I’m glad that I came to find these, Yet I feel so defenseless by my own doing, that I chose to be agonizingly hurt. I think today I am the fire hydrant; the dog has long driven away, at least that’s the way I feel right now. It is amazingly intriguing how all this came about. Over trying to make fun of some foreing woman, I guess I kinda deserve some punishment, but I think this is very much like torture. It all came and went in a flash, like a punch to the face. I have no remorse for my self since I would have probably been upset had I not known exactly what was going on. This night be cursed upon the eyes of the dark sky. I guess the speechless woman would say that the joke is on me.

God, and to think it came to this. The one night that I see you drunk will be the one night I regret, probably for the rest of my life. Fuck trying to talk about it, fuck trying to reason, fuck going to sleep and talking about it in the morning, fuck taking me back to my car, instead lets go ahead and try to scream for help as if I was torturing you. That was unbelievable . You wanna play u say…? noone was playing. But you feel like you have to get everyone involved. You feel that you are going to get someone to come over and kick my ass or do something. Its actualy kinda funny when Im there watching it. You are a good actress. Of course I dont laugh because at that point I feel betrayed ontop of whatever Im feeling. All I wanted is to talk to you and go to sleep as soon as we left from his house. I have never, ever seen you act the way you do when you are drunk. By the way…we are lucky the police didnt get involved. As soon as you left there was a cop car that came to the gas station. I take blame for snatching your car keys, there is nothing else to it, I was trying to scare you or make you see how frustrated I was. Perhaps it wasnt the best route, I am sorry about your hand.

I dont know what to even think about this. Im really confused. I dont know…perhaps its for the better.

Field research is a great way to obtain information about a topic you are studying. Field research is important because it helps bring new information in to your line of study. It can also be rewarding to the student because you have control of the research; you do not have to replicate someone else’s work. There are many ways to conduct field research. The three main way are through ethnographies, interviews and surveys. An ethnography is an in depth study of a certain culture or social group. An ethnographer will be a participant and an observer in the community. He or she will try to define all aspects of that culture. In an interview the researcher is trying to get specific information from someone who is either an expert in a certain field, or is part of a specific culture, or social class. Surveys are a list of questions designed to find out the general attitude of a certain social group or culture on specific topics. Each of these studies has it’s strengths and weaknesses. Also each different social science has its own way of conducting research and reporting the findings. If you do not follow the guidelines for your particular social science you will not be taken seriously in that field. The ethical issues in field research are also different from lab experiments, or online and book research. In field research you have to protect the people you are observing and reporting on and you have to be careful to not put yourself into danger.

Lately, there has been a lot of turmoil over raging parents and youth athletics. But the truth is, parents have just entered this phase of chaos while coaches have been in it for as long as sports have been around.

Is it better to be loved or to be feared? Some coaches feel that it is better to have the respect of their players than to make every player tremble with fear every time the coach enters the room. But, most youth coaches believe that at this level, they cannot play this laid back role in coaching because the players are not mature enough to handle things on their own. As a result, youth coaches act as the dictators in youth sports the players can do nothing but accept what the coach says. The players’ fear of the coach becomes even larger when they see their coach argue over a play with the umpire or referee. One can almost see the young players trembling and hiding as their coach comes off of the playing field yelling and cursing.

In youth sports there are many rules that are taught to the young players by their coaches. But, when it comes to coaches arguing plays, there are really no rules as to what can and cannot be said; it is more of a common sense type of thing. However, coaches (being the devoted sports-crazed fanatics that they are) many times do not know how to control themselves and what they say when a situation comes up in which they have to discuss a play. As a result, they usually charge whoever the authority figure is and lets them know what is on their minds as vaguely as loud as they can. Afterwards, with anger still built up inside of them after the games, coaches usually take this anger out on their players.

The other day, I was watching the news. There was a story about a man that was at fault for the death of an infant. The anchorwoman even mentioned that this man would be charged with the death of an infant. This stuck me as a very strange charge to be brought upon a man. The story is that a few women driving to or from a bacheoloreett party were hit by a man who was drunk and passed the red light. One of the women must have been pregnant. I don’t agree with the possible charges being brought upon the man. a doctor is allowed to kill a fetus and get away with it. Why? Because of the convenience of this disposal for someone. Yet when the death of a baby is not convenient then that’s when the charges are brought up. This man who had no intention of killing anything much less a future child will be charges and prosecuted for killing a fetus. On the other hand, a doctor who intentionally murders this fetus will get no such treatment. In fact this doctor will probably be paid for his dutiful job. Is it fair to distinguish between the two? Its not fair in my eyes.

This Friday, Ocober 27th, My 4 friends and I went to Orlando for Halloween Horror nights. While we were there, we saw that some parents had there children with them. The kids were maybe at most 10 years old. We were standing in line waiting to go into one of the haunted houses, and in line next to us was a mother with a toddler in a stroller. I do not understand why a parent would bring there child to a place like Halloween horror nights, where there are lots of scary things jumping out at you and yelling. My friends and I were scared, and i can not even imagine how a little kid must feel. When I was a little kid, I was cared of a lot of things, and if i were to go to Universal Studios on that night, I would have been tramatized. Some little kids were walking through the houses, and some of them did not even look scared. I was terrified and I am 18 years old. I do not know how those little kids could do it, and how there parents could let them go. But I think that they are crazy.

Plastic surgery has been the topic of my family’s arguments for the last five years. I personally support plastic surgery, especially when it’s used to help burn victims, etc. What split my families’ views on plastic surgery were their views between people who get surgery to enhance what they have, and those who need to reconstruct a body. I think that surgery for either view is the same thing. My reasons are these: A person may not be happy with how time has affected their face. Another person, behind in an accident and, is not happy with the way things turned out. They both will opt for plastic surgery because they are not happy with the way they look. I think that there is no difference between these two situations. In both cases the people are unhappy with the way they looked. Why do people differentiate between these situations?
